FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: (BY TELECOMMUTERS)

Q: Why is this site different than other telecommute job sites?:

A: Real jobs! For every job that you see posted on our site, there are five other jobs that we have rejected. That's because we do NOT allow MLM scams, jobs that require a start-up fee, or any of the job types listed on the Federal Trade Commission's "work at home schemes" warning list. Buyer bewares: It is common for other telecommute job sites to consist of such 'junk jobs'.

Q: How can this site help me get a telecommuting job?:

A: By nature, telecommute jobs are difficult to land. Although we can not guarantee that you'll get hired for a telecommute job, we can provide you with three services that may give you a head start.
1) Job Bank. You search our site and send your resume to telecommute jobs.
2) Resume Posting. You post a resume on our site for employers to view.
3) Resume Distribution. Let us send your resume out to hundreds of
recruiters including some with a history of telecommute hiring.

Q: What types of telecommute jobs can I find here?:

A: See for yourself by checking out the job titles on our list of
current work-at-home job openings.

Q: What is free on this site?:

A: We want to make the potential for telecommuting available to everyone, as we believe it is truly the best way to work! For this reason, our site offers the following services to job seekers, free of charge:

Post your resume. It is free for Employers to browse our resume database and contact you if a job-match is found. Jobs that offer only partial telecommuting (work at home at least one day per week) are accessible without a fee. These jobs are designated with a "faded house" symbol in our job bank

Q: Which features require a subscription fee?:

A: Access to full telecommuting jobs (work at home at least 80%).
These jobs are designated with a "non-faded house" symbol
in our
job bank. Resumes with a premium ranking, for greater visibility. We also offer resume distribution services that "blast" your resume to telecommute-friendly employers. See our pricelist for more details or to purchase a subscription.

Q: How do I know it's safe to use my credit card here?:

A: We've processed thousands of credit card transactions over the years
without any significant problems or complaints. Our credit card transactions are processed safely through our Geo Trust certified secure server. For those who are still concerned about exposing their
credit card information to our site, we offer PayPal as an alternate method of payment. PayPal's popularity stems from it's reputation as the primary funds transfer system of eBay users. As always your credit card company provides you with a great deal of protection against fraud and abuse by any online merchant. Credit card companies typically side with the consumer on billing disputes, giving you the opportunity to protest any transaction that you feel was unwarranted.

Q: What is the best way to use this site?:

A: You'll have the most success with our site (and any job site for that matter)
by taking the patient approach, and responding to numerous jobs
over an extended time period. Keep an eye on new jobs posted here
daily, and respond to them quickly. We have a variety of ways for you
to be alerted when an employer posts a new job opening on our site.
These include our email alerts and our RSS News Feed, both of which
are free services provided by Yahoo Groups. You can also bookmark
our new arrivals page where the newest jobs are always shown at the top.
In order to use our optional News Feed, you'll need to have an RSS
Reader (software) which are often free downloads on sites like this one.
To start receiving our email alerts, you'll need to go through the free
sign up on our Yahoo Groups page.

Q: What if I'm still not satisfied with my purchase?:

A: We provide a full refund if you are dissatisfied for any reason within the first 30 days of your purchase. We are pleased to report that only 3 out of every 200 purchasers ever request a refund from us. The few that do request a refund often thank us for being so prompt and cooperative with their returned funds. We are taking no chances with our spotless reputation, and we do our very best to make sure purchasers are satisfied.

Q: How do I request a refund? (I'm not satisfied with my purchase):

A: Simply email us with the word "REFUND" in the subject line of your email. If it's been 30 days or less since the time of your purchase, we will process your full refund within 3 to 5 business days. Afterwards, we will send you a confirmation receipt to acknowledge the return of your funds. Please note that your credit card company may take an additional number of days before your refund is visible on your online credit card statement.

Q: Why do you charge fees for access to jobs?:

A: It's true that many employment sites like Monster.com do not charge access fees for viewing jobs, and in this regard - our site is unusual. Upon further examination however, this turns out to be a comparison between apples and oranges. Our site is a unique portal for premium jobs that allow telecommuting, and these openings are in tremendous demand. In the Q&A question below, we discuss what had occurred in the years in which we had offered free access to telecommute jobs.
From this, we think you will see that our present fee-based system actually
offers our subscribers the advantage of less competition. This provides a better
chance of being noticed by employers, rather than simply being overlooked
in a huge crowd of other job seekers who are a applying for the same jobs.

Q: How did this site get started?:

A: In the years leading up to Y2K, we operated another job site ( PrgJobs.com ) which is still in existence today. In those days, employers would occasionally post telecommute job openings, which job seekers could access for free. In time however, we began to notice a disproportional trend in which a large percentage of our job seeker traffic had been pursuing less than one percent of our jobs. You guessed it, these were the telecommute jobs. We encountered many cases in which 400 or more job seekers would
apply for just one of these job openings. In order to accommodate this large
amount of traffic, we were continually paying for more servers and bandwidth.
In 2001, we made the decision to feature our telecommute jobs on their
own fee-based website (Telecommute-Jobs.com). While serving to
offset our operating costs, we believe that we have also created a
website which better serves the interests of telecommuters.

Q: Can I use this site if I'm not located in the USA?:

A: Many of the jobs listed on our site are open to those living overseas and those who do not have a USA work visa. A few jobs may have a geographic requirement, for example "must be located in the Atlanta area". Such jobs will explicitly indicate the geographic requirement right on the job page.
We do not have any statistics available relating to how many jobs have geographic requirements, however - you can get an idea by reading some of
our jobs and looking for such requirements in the text of the job ad.
Because the vast majority of the employers on our site are located in the USA, job seekers need to have the ability to speak English. More importantly, job seekers should be able to send emails using mistake-free English including proper spelling and good grammar.
